Yet Luna Parker is unlike any other student at the Academy...
While her classmates use sophisticated devices known as Oculus Nova to glimpse fragments of the past, Luna experiences visions connected to events that have not yet happened. These rare and unpredictable glimpses often place her at the heart of mysteries long before anyone else realises that danger is approaching.
Combining mystery, adventure, humour, fantasy and steampunk
worldbuilding, the series follows Luna and her friends as they navigate a city
filled with strange inventions, hidden conspiracies, remarkable technologies
and secrets stretching across generations.
The world of Videntia is one where the past is never truly
gone, where history leaves traces waiting to be discovered, and where even the
smallest clue may change the future.
Whether you are a new reader or a long-time visitor to
Barcinova, this guide explores the characters, locations and ideas that make
the Luna Parker series unique.
The Story Behind Luna Parker
Luna Parker and Videntia Academy was created through the
collaboration between authors Eva Alton and Riccardo Braccaioli.
Although both authors write in very different genres, they
share a love of mystery, imaginative storytelling and memorable characters. The
idea behind Luna Parker grew from a simple question: what would happen if a
detective story took place in a world where some people could literally see the
past?
From that initial concept emerged Videntia Academy, a school
unlike any other. Instead of teaching magic spells or sword fighting, its
students learn to investigate mysteries, reconstruct events and uncover truths
hidden by time itself.
The series also draws inspiration from classic adventure
stories, detective fiction and the aesthetics of steampunk. Airships float
above the city skyline, steam-powered machines fill the streets, and remarkable
inventions exist alongside abilities that science cannot fully explain.
At its heart, however, Luna Parker is a story about
friendship, courage and curiosity. Every mystery begins with a question, and
Luna has never been very good at leaving questions unanswered.
By combining Eva Alton's love of fantasy and
character-driven storytelling with Riccardo Braccaioli's experience writing
mysteries and investigations, the series creates a world where adventure and
detective work go hand in hand.
Who Is Luna Parker?
Luna Parker is the central character of the series and one
of the most unusual students at Videntia Academy.
Curious, impulsive and fiercely independent, Luna rarely
accepts things simply because she is told to. She questions rules, challenges
assumptions and often finds herself in trouble because she refuses to ignore
problems that others would rather avoid.
Unlike many of her classmates, Luna does not fit neatly into
the Academy's expectations. She struggles with discipline, dislikes unnecessary
authority and often relies on instinct rather than careful planning.
These qualities sometimes create difficulties, but they also
form many of her greatest strengths.
Luna is exceptionally brave when confronted with danger. She
is fiercely loyal to the people she cares about and possesses a determination
that allows her to keep searching for answers long after others have given up.
At the same time, her impulsive nature can lead her into
situations she has not fully considered. She often acts first and worries about
the consequences later. Her impatience, stubbornness and tendency to take risks
occasionally create as many problems as they solve.
Part of what makes Luna different is her unusual
relationship with the Academy itself.
Many students seem perfectly suited to life within its
structured environment. Luna, however, often feels like an outsider. She does
not always think the way other students do, and her abilities do not fit
comfortably within established expectations.
As a result, she frequently finds herself standing apart
from her peers, caught between different worlds and searching for answers that
nobody else seems able to provide.
Yet it is precisely this difference that makes Luna such an
effective investigator.
She notices details that others overlook, asks questions
that others avoid and refuses to accept easy explanations when something does
not feel right.
Throughout the series, Luna's greatest strength is not
simply her unusual abilities but her willingness to act when everyone else
hesitates.
Who Is Christian Rosenberg?
Christian Rosenberg is Luna Parker's closest friend and most
trusted ally.
As the son of Markus Rosenberg, the Headmaster of Videntia
Academy, Christian has grown up surrounded by the traditions and
responsibilities of the institution. Many people assume that he represents
everything the Academy expects from its students.
In many ways, they are correct.
Christian is intelligent, organised and highly disciplined.
He approaches problems methodically, prefers evidence over speculation and
rarely acts without thinking through the consequences first.
Where Luna often follows instinct, Christian relies on
analysis.
This contrast creates one of the most important dynamics in
the series.
Although they frequently disagree about how to approach a
problem, their differences allow them to work together remarkably well. Luna
sees possibilities that Christian might overlook, while Christian provides the
structure and careful reasoning that Luna sometimes lacks.
Their friendship forms the emotional centre of many of the
stories.
Unlike many fictional partnerships, their relationship is
built on trust, loyalty and mutual respect. They challenge one another, support
one another and repeatedly find themselves facing mysteries that neither could
solve alone.
Christian's abilities also play a crucial role in the
investigations.
Using the Oculus Nova, he can examine fragments of the past
and uncover evidence hidden from ordinary observers. His patience and attention
to detail make him one of the Academy's most promising students and an
invaluable partner whenever a mystery needs solving.
Together, Luna and Christian combine intuition and logic,
courage and caution, imagination and analysis.
It is this balance that allows them to face some of the most
unusual mysteries in the world of Videntia.
Markus Rosenberg
Markus Rosenberg is the Headmaster of Videntia Academy and
one of the most respected figures in Barcinova.
Severe, composed and deeply committed to the Academy, Markus
represents authority, tradition and responsibility. To the students, he is not
simply an administrator but the person responsible for protecting the
institution and everything it stands for.
Markus is also a former Seer. Like others who once possessed
the Gift of Vision, he eventually lost that ability and became one of the
Veiled. This gives him a unique perspective: he understands both the power of
the Gift and the vulnerability that comes when it fades.
His relationship with Christian is shaped by expectation and
legacy. As Christian's father, Markus cares deeply for him, but he also knows
that his son carries the weight of being connected to the future of Videntia
Academy.
With Luna, his role is more complex. He is a protector, a
guardian and a father figure, but also someone who knows more about her past
than he always reveals. His trust in Luna grows from more than affection: he
understands that her place at the Academy may be far more important than others
realise.
What Is Videntia Academy?
Videntia Academy is the central institution in the Luna
Parker series.
Located in Barcinova, it is a prestigious school where young
people with paranormal abilities are trained to use the Gift of Vision
responsibly. Its students do not simply study theory. They learn to
investigate, observe, interpret evidence and assist in cases that ordinary
methods cannot solve.
The Academy exists because the past leaves traces.
In the world of Videntia, certain gifted individuals can
perceive fragments of past events. With training, discipline and the help of
specialised artefacts, these abilities can become powerful investigative tools.
Students at the Academy study subjects connected to
detection, analysis, ethics, artefacts and practical investigation. They learn
how to examine crime scenes, interpret visions, recognise clues and work
alongside the authorities when necessary.
The Academy's motto is:
Praeteritum Revelat Arcana
It means: "The Past Reveals Mysteries."
The phrase expresses the central idea of Videntia: that the
past is never fully lost. It can be studied, interpreted and brought into the
light. Hidden actions, forgotten moments and buried secrets may all leave
behind echoes for those with the Sight to uncover.
But the motto also contains a warning.
Revealing the past does not always make the present simpler.
Some secrets are dangerous. Some truths have consequences. And some mysteries
reach much further than anyone expects.
The Gift of Vision
The Gift of Vision is one of the defining abilities in the
world of Luna Parker.
Most gifted students at Videntia Academy are trained to
perceive fragments of the past. This form of vision allows them to reconstruct
events, identify hidden details and discover evidence that ordinary
investigators would never find.
However, the Gift is not unlimited.
It requires training, concentration and the correct use of
artefacts such as the Oculus Nova. Even then, visions may be incomplete,
confusing or difficult to interpret. A Seer may witness a fragment of an event
without immediately understanding its meaning.
The Gift also changes over time.
In the canon of the series, Vision does not disappear at one
fixed age. Instead, it wears down through use, trauma and maturation. Some
individuals lose the Gift earlier than others, while some retain it for longer.
Former Seers are known as the Veiled.
Luna Parker's ability is different from the usual form of
Vision taught at the Academy.
While most Seers look into the past, Luna experiences
flashes connected to possible future events. These visions are rare,
unpredictable and often overwhelming. They do not provide simple answers.
Instead, they offer fragments that Luna must struggle to understand before time
runs out.
The Oculus Nova
The Oculus Nova are among the most important artefacts used
at Videntia Academy.
They are specialised goggles designed to help gifted
students perceive and interpret fragments of the past. Built with copper,
coloured lenses, gears and delicate mechanisms, they are both investigative
tools and symbols of status within the Academy.
Their design reflects the steampunk world of Barcinova:
mechanical, intricate and functional.
For trained Seers, the Oculus Nova make it possible to
examine places, objects and scenes where important events have occurred. By
adjusting the lenses and mechanisms, a student may glimpse what happened
moments, hours or even longer before.
The Oculus Nova are especially important during
investigations. They allow students like Christian Rosenberg to uncover clues
that no ordinary detective could see.
But they are not magical solutions to every problem.
They require a compatible user, skill and interpretation.
What a Seer observes through the Oculus Nova may still be fragmented, partial
or misleading without careful reasoning. This is why investigation at Videntia
Academy depends not only on the Gift, but also on intelligence, discipline and
deduction.
Ordinaries, Seers and the Veiled
The world of Videntia distinguishes between several types of
people.
Ordinaries are people without paranormal abilities.
In the Academy's slang, they may also be called Vulgares. They cannot use the
Gift of Vision and do not perceive the traces of the past in the way Seers can.
Seers are those who possess the Gift of Vision. Most
are able to perceive fragments of the past, especially with the help of
artefacts such as the Oculus Nova. At Videntia Academy, young Seers are trained
to use their abilities responsibly and effectively.
The Veiled are former Seers who have lost the Gift.
This loss is not tied to a single exact age. Instead, Vision may fade because
of use, trauma and maturation. A Veiled person may no longer see as they once
did, but they often retain experience, knowledge and authority.
Markus Rosenberg is one of the Veiled, which makes him
especially important within the Academy. He understands the Gift from the
inside, but he also knows what it means to lose it.
Luna Parker does not fit neatly into these categories.
For much of her life, others see her as an Ordinary within
an Academy of Seers. Yet her rare ability to glimpse the future places her
outside the usual rules and expectations of Videntia.
Barcinova
Barcinova is the main city of the Luna Parker series and the
heart of the world of Videntia.
Inspired by Barcelona but transformed into an alternative
steampunk metropolis, Barcinova stands on the coast of the Medimaris Sea. It is
a city of towers, canals, smoke, brass, glass, clockwork and secrets.
In Barcinova, technology and mystery coexist.
Steam engines power vehicles and machinery. Airships cross
the sky. Mechanical inventions appear in daily life. Hidden passages, old
institutions and government offices shape the lives of its citizens. Beneath
the beauty of the city lies a constant sense that something important may be
concealed just out of sight.
Videntia Academy is one of Barcinova's most important
institutions. Isolated from ordinary life yet deeply connected to the justice
system, the Academy trains young Seers to help solve cases that would otherwise
remain impossible.
Transport is central to the atmosphere of the city.
Above the rooftops, zeppelins and airships carry passengers
across Barcinova and beyond. Balloon Taxis offer faster travel through the
skies, while steam-powered cars move through the streets below.
One of the city's most distinctive systems is the Subfluvial,
an underground canal network used by many citizens to move through Barcinova.
Steam vessels travel beneath the city, linking important districts and allowing
passengers to avoid the chaos of the streets.
For Luna, however, the Subfluvial is far from comforting.
Her inability to swim makes underground water travel especially frightening.
Barcinova is also a city of contrasts.
It contains prestigious institutions and dangerous secrets,
elegant technology and hidden conspiracies, festive streets and shadowy
corners. Its steampunk beauty is never merely decorative. Every machine,
station, canal and tower can become part of a mystery.
This is what makes Barcinova more than a setting.
It is a living part of the series: a city where the past can
be seen, the future can change, and every hidden mechanism may conceal a clue.
Paneuropa
The adventures of Luna Parker take place in Paneuropa, an
alternative version of Europe that serves as the wider setting of the series.
While recognisable in many ways, Paneuropa is not identical
to the Europe we know. Its history, institutions and technological development
have followed a different path, creating a world where steam-powered innovation
and the Gift of Vision exist side by side.
Barcinova is one of the most important cities in Paneuropa,
but it is far from the only place where the influence of Videntia and the Gift
can be felt. Across the continent, governments, institutions and communities
have adapted to a reality in which certain individuals are capable of
perceiving traces of the past.
Paneuropa combines familiar geography with an alternative
historical development, creating a setting that feels both recognisable and
wonderfully strange. This balance between the familiar and the fantastical lies
at the heart of the Luna Parker series.
Saturnalia
Among the most important celebrations in Barcinova is
Saturnalia.
Taking place during the winter season, Saturnalia is a time
of festivities, gatherings and celebration. Streets and buildings are
decorated, families come together and communities across the city mark one of
the most anticipated periods of the year.
For the students of Videntia Academy, Saturnalia offers a
rare opportunity to enjoy a break from their usual routines and
responsibilities.
Yet, as Luna Parker quickly discovers, even the most joyful
celebrations can become the setting for extraordinary mysteries.
Saturnalia plays a significant role in the atmosphere of the
series, combining warmth, tradition and celebration with the sense of wonder
and adventure that characterises the world of Videntia.
Technology in the World of Luna Parker
One of the most distinctive aspects of the series is its
steampunk technology.
The world of Videntia is powered by innovation, engineering
and imagination. Rather than relying on modern digital technology, many of its
inventions are driven by steam power, intricate mechanical systems and
remarkable engineering.
Steam Power
Steam technology forms the backbone of daily life in
Barcinova. Vehicles, machinery and many public systems rely on steam-powered
engines that reflect the city's industrial character.
Automata
Mechanical automata can be found throughout the world of
Luna Parker. These remarkable creations demonstrate the advanced engineering
capabilities of Paneuropa and contribute to the unique atmosphere of the
setting.
Airships and Zeppelins
The skies above Barcinova are filled with airships and
zeppelins.
These enormous vessels connect cities, transport passengers
and cargo, and have become one of the defining symbols of Paneuropa. Their
presence helps give the world its distinctive sense of scale and adventure.
Vehicles
Citizens of Barcinova travel using a variety of means,
including steam-powered automobiles, Balloon Taxis and the city's extensive
Subfluvial network.
Together, these technologies create a world that feels
familiar yet wonderfully different from our own.
Major Locations
Videntia Academy
The Academy is the heart of the series.
It is here that students learn to use the Gift of Vision,
develop investigative skills and prepare for the responsibilities that come
with their abilities.
Many of the most important mysteries in the series begin

Eteria Park
Eteria Park is one of the most famous attractions in
Paneuropa.
Known for its spectacular attractions and larger-than-life
atmosphere, it plays an important role in the events of the first novel and
remains one of the most recognisable locations in the series.
The Subfluvial
The Subfluvial is Barcinova's underground canal transport
system.
Using steam-powered vessels, it allows citizens to travel
beneath the city through an extensive network of waterways that connect
important districts and destinations.
It is one of the most distinctive features of Barcinova and
an essential part of daily life for many of its inhabitants.
Barcinova
More than a setting, Barcinova is almost a character in its
own right.
Its towers, canals, airships, mysteries and inventions shape
every adventure in the series. The city stands at the centre of the world of
Videntia and provides the backdrop for Luna's greatest discoveries.
